What is a Charter School/Public School Academy?

A charter school, or public school academy, is a publicly funded independently managed school established by community members under the terms of a charter with a local or national authority. At Blended Learning Academies, we are our own school district, meaning that faculty and staff can work together in order to individualize student achievement and growth strategies.

Who authorizes Blended Learning Academies?

Will students earn a high school diploma at Blended Learning Academies?

Yes, students receive a high school diploma when they complete the Michigan Merit Curriculum through Blended Learning Academies.

How many credits do students need to complete in order to graduate?

Students must have at least 18 credits in order to graduate from Blended Learning Academies.

English – 4.0 Credits
English I, English II, English II, English IV, English IV

Mathematics – 4.0 Credits
Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and one additional math course

Science – 3.0 Credits
Biology, Physics or Chemistry, and one additional science credit

Social Studies – 3.0 Credits
U.S. History and Geography, World History and Geography. .5 Credits in Civics, .5 Credits in Economics

Visual Arts – 1.0 Credits
Visual Applied Arts

What grade levels are offered at Blended learning Academies?

We serve grades 9-12 at Blended Learning Academies.

What do students need to provide to Blended Learning Academies in order to enroll?

In order to enroll at Blended Learning Academies, students will need the following documents:

  • A completed enrollment packet (given to student by the school)
  • Emergency contact names and telephone numbers
  • Original copy of the student’s birth certificate
  • Immunization record
  • Photo ID of parent or guardian
  • Student’s driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Proof of Michigan residency (a current piece of mail, such as a utilities bill)
  • Final transcript from previous schools
  • Special education records, such as an IEP or 504 plan (if applicable)

What is the age limit to enroll in Blended Learning Academies?

In order to enroll at Blended Learning Academies, students will need the following documents:

Does Blended Learning Academies run on a regular school year schedule?

Blended Learning Academies runs on a year-round schedule. We have two semesters during the typical school year, with our fall semester beginning the first week of September and our spring semester beginning in mid January. Our summer session begins at the end of June.

Do students have to pay to attend blended learning academies?

No! Blended Learning Academies is a tuition-free public school academy.

Our trained staff provide individual learning plans for students who don’t fit in the traditional high school format.
